Ex-Milan Coach Massimiliano Allegri turned down the Greece national bench “to be free for a club next season.”

The confirmation arrived from his consultant Michele Frola, who spoke to calciomercato.com.

“There was a concrete proposal from Greece, who had offered Massimiliano the role of Coach, but he preferred not to accept so that he can be free for a club next season.”

Allegri was sacked by the Rossoneri in January, but there had been reports he was in the running for the Italy job if Cesare Prandelli didn’t renew his contract.

“As with all Coaches, his desire is one day to lead Italy, but with Prandelli’s renewal the issue has to be postponed until after 2016,” added Frola.

Allegri is currently in London to improve his grasp of the English language and study the Premier League training methods.
