Di Carlo: 'Inspired by Atleti'

Livorno go into a six-pointer with Chievo this afternoon and Coach Domenico Di Carlo takes inspiration from Atletico Madrid.

It kicks off at the Stadio Picchi at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT), click here for a match preview.

“In order to do well, we have to follow in the footsteps of Atletico Madrid and their performance against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final,” said Di Carlo in his Press conference.

“We need a united group, a fiery atmosphere and the fans with total participation to make it an intimidating arena for our opponents.

“At the same time, the team must play in a determined, concentrated and gritty manner for the entire game. We must be united and work together in order to win.

“We are doing well on home turf and must continue along that path. We have another three games left at the Picchi and our fans have to support us through them.

“The fightback to draw with Inter helped us to grow and the lads know that they can do it now.”

Livorno are in the relegation zone with 25 points, while Chievo are ahead of them on 27, so a victory would turn the situation on its head.

“Chievo are well-organised and three points would be fundamental,” continued Di Carlo.

“They also have a favourable fixture list and I think even if they lose here it won’t stop them surviving in Serie A. We must play an intelligent match over the 90 minutes.”

Emerson is included in the squad, but is unlikely to play so soon after his injury, while Paulinho and Leandro Greco start, having been rested against Juventus.

Livorno squad for Chievo: Aldegani, Bardi, Anania; Castellini, Emerson, Rinaudo, Coda, Mesbah, Piccini, Gemiti, Ceccherini, Valentini; Duncan, Biagianti, Mosquera, Benassi, Bartolini, Greco; Borja, Belfodil, Siligardi, Paulinho, Emeghara
