Montella still 'in love' with Roma

Vincenzo Montella has admitted his ‘love’ for Roma, but believes there is not much difference between Fiorentina and the Giallorossi.

The Tuscan outfit host the capital club on Saturday evening, looking for the three points that could take them to within six of third place Napoli.

But the Coach has jokingly conceded that he has failed to beat his old club because he still holds them in huge affection.

“Perhaps the difference between us and Roma in the League is down to our European campaign and the absences we’ve suffered,” he told a Press conference.

“Maybe their squad is slightly better than ours, but 11 versus 11 – I don’t see much difference.

“I don’t know why I have never been able to beat Roma as [Viola] Coach, maybe it’s because I love them so much!

“But joking aside, I think only on one occasion have they deserved to beat us. In other matches, we’ve always left the field thinking we should have got more.”

The tactician then commented on rumours that Adem Ljajic could return to Stadio Artemio Franchi, after a difficult season with Rudi Garcia’s men.

“I don’t think he’s had enough continuity in the capital. If we get him on loan and maybe split the salary, then we’d welcome him with open arms.”
