“This is a developmental phase that can take another three months, as we have to understand the concepts of this business,” Thohir told Inter Channel.

“Massimo Moratti and I will evaluate the new plan, which will be good for Inter and for the fans. I’d like to import the model I saw at Real Madrid, which we saw a few days ago. We need to compete with these big clubs on all levels.”

This week Honorary President Moratti said he’d love to bring Jose Mourinho back to San Siro.

“We have a very good Coach like Mazzarri, as Moratti also pointed out. There is a commitment to Mazzarri for several years and therefore we must respect it. At the same time, we need results.

“Yesterday I met the players and told them we must concentrate on the final games. We want to win tonight so we can get as many points as possible.”
Thohir was asked about the transfer strategy for the summer amid reports of a bid for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko or Real Madrid product Alvaro Morata.

“We need to complete the squad. We are discussing ideas with the director of sport and the Coach. We need players in many areas to become stronger.”
