Andrea Ranocchia ‘expects’ Inter to beat city rivals Milan this weekend, but concedes that the derby is always competitive.

The Nerazzurri face the Rossoneri in the Milan derby on Sunday, with both teams fighting for a Europa League place.

But despite their opponents’ recent defeat to Roma, the centre back knows that Clarence Seedorf’s men will go all-out for the three points.

“I expect the victory, but the derby is always competitive,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Since I’ve been here I have won in different ways, but beating Milan is always special.

“The derby is all about passion, history, atmosphere. The week leading up to the game is special and it’s always nice to play in.”

The Italy international then commented on Mario Balotelli, who has been criticised recently for his performances.

“Mario has so many qualities – both technical and physical. It is normal that sometimes you have these types of moments in your career.

“But he’s still scored a lot of goals this season.”
