The duo are both named in Cesare Prandelli’s provisional 30-man squad that began training ahead of the summer tournament on Tuesday.

Seen as in direct competition for a single spot, despite Prandelli’s notion that this may not be the case, it is believed that Cassano currently holds the advantage.

The Corriere dello Sport indicate that if the CT were to list his 23-man squad today, the Parma man would make the cut where the Fiorentina forward wouldn’t, based solely on physical reasons.

It is believed that there are concerns over Rossi with regards to changes of direction and tackling and that there ‘remains a risk’ to the player, following his recent return from a five-month lay-off due to another knee injury.
