The 75-year-old this afternoon gave an exclusive interview to Sport Mediaset and stressed his belief that Old Lady Coach Antonio Conte should think twice before leaving Turin anytime soon.

Conte has committed himself to the Bianconeri for at least another year but there is still speculation over his long-term future at Juventus Stadium.

However, using a colourful phrase he once learned, Trap said the Juve boss should appreciate the role he currently has.

“I have wished Conte my congratulations for the treble he has done in Italy, which is not easy,” Trapattoni said. “It’s never easy to repeat your achievements.

“He has worked very well and I will now repeat a phrase a friend told me once that has helped me a lot – ‘remember that the more forests you go into, the more wolves you find.’

“So, as long as you are at a club where you know you have the backing and the guarantees you need, it should always make you think a little more [about leaving].”

The former Republic of Ireland boss then discussed the two Milan clubs, both of whom he has had spells coaching.

As well as backing Pippo Inzaghi for the Rossoneri hotseat, he also thinks Nerazzurri tactician Walter Mazzarri will do well given time.

“I think that Pippo has already had some great experience in the youth sector. I think he can put into action what is some real international experience he has.

“I think he will need the support of the directors like Galliani.

“Now Mazzarri has a clear idea of the strengths of his team. He has also had the backing of Thohir and Moratti.

“So, I think he can do well if he stays.”
