Pictures have emerged of the pitch in Manaus looking less than perfect ahead of Italy’s game with England on Saturday.

The Azzurri take on the Three Lions in their opening Group D match at the weekend in the Amazonian city.

But images have revealed that the playing surface at the Arena De Amazonia is not exactly up to World Cup standards.

The goalmouths are more sand than grass, whilst the rest of the pitch doesn’t compare to Premier League or Serie A standards.

Cesare Prandelli has warned that Italy will attack at the World Cup, but could struggle not only with the heat and humidity in the jungle, but also the pitch.
