Argentina Coach Alejandro Sabella has praised the impact of Rodrigo Palacio following victory over Switzerland.

The Inter forward replaced Ezequiel Lavezzi in the 74th minute of the South Americans’ World Cup Round of 16 match against Ottmar Hitzveld’s team.

Eventually, a goal by Angel Di Maria in the final minutes of extra-time settled the contest, but the tactician gave Palacio a special mention for his role in the winning strike.

“The team played a good match and covered all the spaces well,” Sabella told reporters. “The winning passage of play came about with Rodrigo, who knew to pressurise the midfield.

“That helped us to find the goal.”
