Cesare Prandelli says a meeting with Galatasaray President Unal Aysal persuaded him to make the move to Turkey.

The former Italy Coach has been unveiled in his new role just two weeks after he presided over the Azzurri’s World Cup elimination in Brazil.

Speaking at a Press conference today, the 56-year-old admitted he initially felt he was not ready for a new challenge so soon but that Aysal had won him over.

“Until ten days ago I was at a World Cup, I never thought I’d be able to plan my future,” Prandelli said.

“After the World Cup I received a phone call and I said that I wasn’t mentally ready to think about a team.

“Then, I met the President and I heard that he wants to achieve certain results and maybe this is what I need.

“I want to challenge, I think I have made the right decision because the aim is to win.”

Prandelli also answered questions about Gala’s star player, Wesley Sneijder, as well as his targets for his reign at the Istanbul club.

“Sneijder is one of the most important players for Holland and he will be one of the most important for Galatasaray.

“We are following his World Cup and he is showing a lot of promise from a physical and technical point of view.

“Our first target is to win the Super Cup against Fenerbahce.”
