Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi has admitted that it makes him ‘shudder’ to think about the club’s European expulsion.
The Crociati finished sixth last season, but were banned from participating in the Europa League after being denied a European licence by the FIGC, because of alleged unpaid taxes.
And the club’s owner has insisted that he is convinced of his team’s innocence.
“It makes me shudder to think about these things because we won on the pitch,” he told RTL 102.5.
“We got an outstanding sixth place, and then, as usual, Italian bureaucracy kicked in.
“We still don’t know why we weren’t allowed to play in Europe. That’s why we have resorted to the courts.
“We are convinced that we are innocent, and we hope that we are an example for other clubs.
“I’ve lost my enthusiasm for football. A few months ago I talked about this, but this episode has made me lose the greatest passion in my life.”
