Zlatan Ibrahimovic credits Fabio Capello and Marco van Basten tapes with making him a Sweden legend.

The PSG striker became the all-time top scorer in Swedish history this week with his brace against Estonia.

“I knew that I’d beat that record. I am happy, as I’d been waiting a long time for this moment and I think I deserved it,” Ibra told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It is a wonderful sensation, but I am certain I’ll score many more goals for Sweden and PSG.”

The former Inter, Milan and Juventus star credits one man with making him the forward he is today.

“I became a top scorer when I met Capello. When he was at Juventus one day he showed me a video of Marco van Basten’s best goals and said: ‘You have to do it like that.’

“I was young and learned so much from that anthology of football. From that day, I started scoring like the greats.

“Plus you ain’t seen nothing yet. My best goal? The bicycle kick against England, obviously. Will I write another book? It’s possible, as I still have a lot to say.”

Ibrahimovic was insulted by a far right politician in Sweden because he is the son of immigrants.

“I can only say these people do not deserve comment. We shouldn’t even be talking about them. I have already voted early, as I will return to Paris.

“Football and politics should not be mixed. I want to say it’s important to vote, as we are talking about the future of Sweden.”
