The English Football Association has confirmed that England will face Italy in two friendlies, the first of which will take place at the end of March.

The two teams, who met at the group stage of the 2014 World Cup and at the quarter-finals of Euro 2012, will face off in two friendly internationals.

The first of these, report the FA on their official website, will take place on Italian soil on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at a venue to be confirmed at a later date.

Then, the Azzurri will travel out to England for a return fixture, the date of which will be confirmed in the 2016-2018 FIFA World Cup qualification cycle.

Italy and England have met 25 times, with the Nazionale shading the wins 10 to eight.

“Italy have always provided stern opposition for England and these two fixtures will be no different,” England manager Roy Hodgson is quoted by the FA as saying.

“Italian teams are always set up very well and they have a great history of producing world class footballers. It will give us great preparation leading into major international tournaments.

“After managing in Italy with Inter Milan, it will be a fantastic experience for me personally to go back to Italy and manage England.”
