Antonio Conte says Marco Verratti must have patience behind Andrea Pirlo and Daniele De Rossi, whilst he backs Mario Balotelli and Cesare Prandelli.
The CT has commented more than once on his intention to play only one from the Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Roma midfielders from the start of Italy internationals.
With Verratti unavailable for tonight’s match with Azerbaijan, the returning Pirlo is set to start and it is reflective of a situation the younger man must be aware of, says his Coach.
“With two world class players like Pirlo and De Rossi ahead of him, a young man like him must have patience,” Conte has told RaiSport today.
“He can be the man of the present and also the man of the future.”
Conte was also asked about his predecessor Cesare Prandelli’s early struggles at Galatasaray, together with Mario Balotelli’s indifferent start to life back in the Premier League with Liverpool.
“They both need time to adapt. For Cesare there is the problem of the language and a new environment.
“For Balotelli the previous experience in England does not count - Liverpool is a completely different reality. Sooner or later he will unlock himself.
“Does he regret leaving Italy? These are questions for him…”
Leonardo Bonucci was forced to apologise for a tweet posted whilst on international duty about the Juventus-Roma game.
“He was wrong, but he has already apologised.”
Italy’s women’s volleyball team are impressing at the 2014 World Championship and have progressed to the final round of the competition.
“How long until [Italian Prime Minister Matteo] Renzi is also proud of us? The volleyball women are a little ahead of us, but our journey has started well and I am convinced that sooner or later the Italian people will also be proud of us.”
