Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed that club representatives have met with a group of Mexican investors.

The 73-year-old did not, however, confirm that he was looking to sell the club, insisting that the group met with Palermo CEO Andrea Cardinaletti looking to provide sponsorship for the Rosanero.

“Yes, Mexicans have come to Palermo,” Zamparini has told Tuttosport.

“They spoke with the CEO, Cardinaletti. At the moment they’re looking into possible sponsorship.”

According to Tuttosport, one sticking point to any potential investment could be Zamparini’s desire to retain a controlling stake in the club.

The Turin-based newspaper also reports, though, that potential investment from the Mexican consortium would be dependent on acquiring at least 70 per cent of the club.
