Fernando Torres is likely to be handed a start for Milan’s trip to Cagliari, according to today’s speculation.
Milan President Silvio Berlusconi reportedly spoke with Coach Filippo Inzaghi at half-time during Sunday’s draw with Fiorentina, urging the tactician to put Torres up front.
The words of the owner appear to have been heeded, with the Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that the former Chelsea striker will play for the start at the Sant’Elia, with Jeremy Menez dropping to the bench, having occupied the ‘false nine’ role in recent weeks.
Fellow Spaniard Diego Lopez is expected to return in goal, with Christian Abbiati making way.
Adil Rami looks set to oust Cristian Zapata from the starting XI, and will partner Alex in central defence with Ignazio Abate and Mattia De Sciglio retaining their places at full-back.
Joining Torres in attack will be Stephan El Shaarawy and Keisuke Honda.
Probable Milan XI to face Cagliari: Diego Lopez; Abate, Alex, Rami, De Sciglio; Bonaventura, De Jong, Muntari; Honda, Torres, El Shaarawy
