Napoli have confirmed that they have signed Lorenzo Insigne to a new contract, committing him until June 2019.
Aurelio De Laurentiis has long been reported as keen to extend and improve the diminutive playmaker’s deal and rumours today were that an agreement was close.
Those proved accurate, as the club have now released a brief statement confirming the successful resolution of talks with the 23-year-old.
“The President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Lorenzo Insigne met today in the offices of Filmauro in Rome and have signed a contract until June 30, 2019,” Napoli have written on their official website.
Insigne’s improved form of late also reportedly has him in contention for a return to the Italian national team, albeit in potentially a new role.
