Italian media claim Roberto Mancini’s top Inter target is Alessio Cerci, but in England they see a bid for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Mancini began his second stint on the Nerazzurri bench this weekend and has already shown he’ll change Walter Mazzarri’s 3-5-2 tactics to a 4-3-1-2 system.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the main transfer target in January is ex-Torino winger Cerci.

He only made the move to Atletico Madrid on September 1, but has struggled to settle and received relatively little playing time.

A loan deal would be the most likely in the current situation, especially as Inter cannot afford to spend due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

The Daily Mail claims Mancini is looking to reinforce his midfield with Liverpool captain Gerrard.

The 34-year-old England man has not yet agreed a new contract at Anfield and could move to the MLS.

However, his wage demands would be considered excessive for the Nerazzurri in the current climate and at his age.

The biggest reason for this move to go through would be Inter President Erick Thohir’s desire to spread their influence over fans in the Far East, who are traditionally Premier League supporters.
