Sampdoria Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has indicated he may veto Manolo Gabbiadini’s move to Napoli.

Gabbiadini is expected to join the Partenopei in January, having reportedy agreed personal terms with the club, following Juventus and Sampdoria’s acceptance of an €11m bid for the co-owned player.

However, in a post-match interview following his side’s win over Brescia in the Coppa Italia, in which Gabbiadini played and scored, Mihajlovic appeared to cast doubt on the transfer.

“Don’t talk to me about the transfer market,” Mihajlovic cautioned in an interview with RAI Sport.

“Nothing at this club is done without me knowing about it. The players who played today proved their worth, they haven’t been given permission to speak to other clubs.”

Asked whether that meant Gabbiadini would not leave Marassi, Mihajlovic was typically forthright.

“At my club, I have a say in the matter.

“Everything that happens is shared with me.

“I don’t know if Gabbiadini and [Stefano] Okaka will stay or if other players will arrive, this isn’t the right place to talk about the transfer market.”
