“It’s going to be a great match, certainly. We must resume from the good things we saw against Roma, avoiding the mistakes that led us to defeat,” said the Coach after a 4-2 loss at the Olimpico.

“We can build on the football we play, which is not bad after just two weeks of working together. We are lacking something in certain positions, but must guarantee coverage for the defence. Attitude is important, though it’s logical someone like Guarin isn’t going to be a pure attacking winger.

“It’s important to win, without making stupid mistakes like the ones that cost us at Roma. The team is gaining self-confidence and that is important to me.

“The fans have always been accustomed to success. Now it depends on us and the team to win them back. If the crowd sees we fight for every ball, they will get back to cheering us on the way they always have.”

Brought in last month to replace Walter Mazzarri, will Mancini still be the Inter Coach next season?

“It doesn’t only depend on me, but the objective is to get back to winning ways quickly. I have a two-and-a-half-year contract, so it’s not really an issue. If President Thohir didn’t have faith in me, then he would not have come looking for me. We need results, that’s what counts right now.”

Ex-Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni is now in charge of Udinese with Dejan Stankovic as his assistant manager.

“It’s not easy to climb into the first team job when you are young, as there can be mistakes, but experience helps you to learn. In any case, Stramaccioni is already a very good Coach.”

This week the club brought in Sylvinho as Mancini’s new assistant manager, having been his player at Manchester City.

“He is an extraordinary lad who won everything with Arsenal, Barcelona and City. He will be able to really help the players. He can also run more than me as he’s younger and speaks more than one language!”

Mancio confirmed Mauro Icardi will start rather than Daniel Osvaldo tomorrow, insists he has “faith in both of them. I have to say all my players are giving everything they’ve got and that had never happened to me before. They will improve by a huge amount.”

The Coach was asked about Yann M’Vila and the furious reaction to a substitution.

“M’Vila will never again repeat a scene like that. It was the last time.”
