Sinisa Mihajlovic warned Sampdoria to focus 100 per cent on Udinese and reveals why he didn’t sign Antonio Di Natale.
It kicks off on Sunday at 14.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.
“What I ask my team is to end 2014 on a high by beating Udinese,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“That result would ensure we begin 2015 in third place and therefore with more confidence on what we are and what we could become.
“We must convince ourselves that we’ve got the quality to do well, having drawn with great teams and beaten the likes of Genoa and Fiorentina. We only dropped points this term because we lacked self-belief.
“This is why tomorrow we must have confidence in our capabilities. We mustn’t let Udinese go on the counter and face them openly to get three points.
“If we win, we’ll have 15 days of smiles in third place, maybe even an extra day or two off. However, if I see anyone already thinking about their vacation, they won’t have a good Christmas break, I can assure you. I’ll change their minds quick smart.”
Mihajlovic revealed he came very close to signing 37-year-old Di Natale from Udinese.
“Everyone knows Di Natale is an extraordinary striker and still one of the best despite his age. I wanted to take him to Fiorentina when I was in charge, but the directors told me he was too old. Since then he’s played another five years and scored so many goals.”
Gianluca Sansone, Matias Silvestre, Alessio Romagnoli and Pawel Wszolek are all unavailable.
