Udinese forward Luis Muriel told papers in Colombia that he is “very close to Sampdoria, they are an ideal destination.”
The striker has struggled for playing time at the Stadio Friuli, as before Francesco Guidolin and then Andrea Stramaccioni complained about his attitude in training.
“I went to Colombia with the Udinese fitness coach to continue recovery work and be ready as soon as possible,” Muriel told El Heraldo.
“I hope for good things in the new year, hopefully with a change of squad. There is a genuine approach from Sampdoria and it has been positive.
“Many clubs want me, but we are very close to Sampdoria and I think this will be my destination. My agent is taking care of things and I am very happy with the news he has given me so far.
“Sampdoria are the ideal destination, as they are aiming for Europe. We still need a few more details for the transfer, but I hope to find consistency – whether at Sampdoria or Udinese – to get back into the Colombia squad.”
