“Milan and Inter have a long way to go. If they don’t get anything wrong in the next three years then they can become competitive again,” was Capello’s view.

Roma have some interesting aspects to the team. Juventus can go far in the Champions League with only a few small adjustments. They have achieved all their transfer targets.

“The real problem in Italian football is that as soon as a talent emerges, we sell him abroad, and that weakens the League.”

Capello also commented on Alessio Cerci’s short-lived spell with Atletico Madrid and imminent move to Milan.

“I remember him from his days at Roma. Cerci is a timid boy who needs to understand the public is very demanding at a big club. He has the quality to do well, but must convince himself that he can do it.”
