Gianfranco Zola’s Cagliari are close to picking up ex-Lazio and Sunderland defender Modibo Diakité.
The Frenchman has had a complex transfer history since leaving Lazio in July 2013, having brief spells at Sunderland, Fiorentina and Deportivo La Coruna.
According to Italian media reports, Diakité will be a free agent and is in advanced negotiations with Cagliari.
A deal could be struck early next week with the Sardinian club.
