New Inter signing Lukas Podolski believes that the Nerazzurri are one of the 10 biggest clubs in the world.
The German international has joined the club on a six-month loan from Arsenal, and made his debut during Tuesday night’s draw with Juventus.
Speaking at his official presentation as an Inter player, the former Bayern Munich striker insisted the Beneamata are one of the world’s biggest teams.
“Inter are perceived as one of the top 10 clubs in the world,” Podolski told assembled media.
“They have huge success in their past, and the treble wasn’t too long ago .
“Also, Serie A is one of the most prestigious leagues, the Premier League and Bundesliga have rebounded, and are ahead at the moment but Serie A has great teams.
“I think Inter are a great team and I want to help them to the highest honours.
“When I arrived I received a world-class welcome, it was a unique thing and I’m proud. Then I saw my shirt with the legendary Inter badge on it and became even more proud.”
Podolski was on the field when Pablo Osvaldo and Mauro Icardi had their now-infamous bust-up, which appears to have signalled the end of Osvaldo’s time at the club.
“These things happen,” the World Cup winner said of the incident.
“In my opinion it’s not a problem, the media have blown the story out of proportion.
“I don’t know what happened in the dressing room, the Coach [Roberto Mancini] must decide how to go forward, not me.
“I just have to play well on the pitch, all that counts is we did well against Juve.”
