The Italian international is out of contract at the end of the season, and was reported at the weekend that the diminutive forward had already agreed on a move to MLS.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website states that the Atomic Ant has already signed a deal with the Canadian side which will see him earn $10m [€8.6m] for the next four years.

The former Parma player would become one of the club’s three ‘designated’ players who are allowed to exceed a team’s salary cap.

Toronto announced on Sunday that a major announcement would be made tonight at 6pm GMT, with speculation that the signature of Giovinco will be confirmed.

Toronto failed to make the play-offs last season in MLS, after finishing seventh in the Eastern Conference.
