Parma have issued an official statement denying that striker Antonio Cassano is taking legal action against them.

Rumours started circulating earlier today that the former Italian international was turning to a tribunal to demand payment of outstanding salary, which reportedly stretches back six months.

In a statement released on their site since, however, Parma have denied all these rumours.

“With regards to the news circulated in the Press according to which the player Antonio Cassano sent a ‘default notice’ to the club, Parma FC clarifies that the news are completely baseless,” reads the statement.

“Antonio Cassano simply requested the payment of the sums owed to him, but did not formalise any ‘default notice’, nor established a deadline for payment, nor announced a decision to take specific legal action.

“It is therefore a simple invitation to settle the payment, totally unusual, self-serving, and beyond that absolutely useless.”
