The club released a statement to formally deny the reports of a ‘default notice’ and insisted he had “simply requested the payment of sums owed to him.”

However, Cassano’s wife Carolina Marcialis retweeted a series of messages, including one of a news report confirming the legal request was lodged for outstanding wages and not to push for a transfer.

She also retweeted a message from a fan that read: ‘Forgive certain fans, they like it when the workers are not paid and the chief invests.’

FantAntonio is believed to be owed six months of wages by the club, who were docked one point this season due to financial difficulties.

New owners bought out Parma in December, but it seems as if the players are still being pushed down the pecking order.
