The Argentinian’s exploits have led to Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini slapping a €42m price tag on the forward and despite the player himself believing that such a fee would be excessive it appears Arsenal may well be ready to tempt the Sicilian club.

The Daily Express reports that the Gunners will look to trump Manchester United for the starlet with a bid of €40m, just short of the fee Zamparini had demanded.

The deal will not happen in January though, as according to the newspaper Palermo have informed Arsene Wenger’s side that they will not entertain bids for the striker until the summer.
