Massimo Gobbi and AIC President Damiano Tommasi explain Parma players refusing to put the club into administration – for now.
The squad was entitled to file legal papers putting the club into administration for failing to pay outstanding wages stretching back to July 2014.
However, Monday’s deadline passed and the players met with the AIC (Players’ Association) President today, deciding to hold back.
“We decided to give the club a few more days, because we understood that many problems stretch back to the a few months ago,” vice-captain Gobbi told Sky Sport Italia.
“We cannot do anything other than play our football and wait, proving that we sweat for the shirt and honour our profession.”
AIC President Tommasi also spoke to reporters after his meeting with the Parma players.
“We are working to ensure these situations will never happen again. The new owners only took over a few days ago, so we must put our faith in them.
“This week will be fundamental. Parma players are confident this situation will be resolved. It’s just not right to see this sort of thing happening in Serie A.”
