Alessandro Lucarelli reveals that Morgan De Sanctis is the only player to personally express support for Parma.
The Ducali are in dire financial straits, with doubts over whether they’ll be able to complete the Serie A season, but the club captain reveals he’s had little support from fellow professionals, other than the Roma goalkeeper.
“The only colleague who called me was Morgan De Sanctis,” Lucarelli said in his latest interview, with Tele Radio Stereo.
“Others when asked their opinion have expressed solidarity at a distance, but no-one has showed up.
“It should be understood, that in a sick football like ours, what happened to us could happen to anyone.
“Tomorrow is the decisive day, with a meeting between [President Giampietro] Manenti and the mayor of Parma [Federico Pizzarotti], where we’ll find out if he’s serious or if it will be necessary to take the books to court.”
If Manenti were to hand over Parma’s accounts to a tribunal, the club could enter controlled administration, meaning they could play in Serie B next season.
However, the President is refusing to do so, meaning that if he doesn’t come up with the money Parma will be liquidated and forced to begin again in the amateur leagues.
