Roberto Donadoni was disheartened by the referee after Parma’s contentious 4-1 defeat at Sassuolo.

“It seems absurd talking about refereeing errors in our situation, but this season luck clearly isn’t on our side,” Donadoni told Rai Sport.

“They tell me the first goal was offside and Coda’s disallowed goal was valid. Clearly that’s going to affect the outcome.

“The red card and penalty clearly finished off our chances of getting back into it. We could’ve had more belief, as we were too timid, but it does hurt to see players work so hard and be penalised through no fault of their own.”

Parma are accustomed to being penalised, as they’ve been docked three points and await a bankruptcy tribunal on Thursday.

“We have to go forward and not talk about things that aren’t going to change. Everything around the pitch is a waste of energy and we still need our energy,” noted Donadoni.

“It’ll take more than a miracle to save the club. We need people with the money, passion and desire to carry on a project.

“We still have a President who could do something. If someone has the money and wants to put it into the club, then we’d be happy, but for the moment we don’t see anyone.

“Therefore we continue to put our faith in someone who is considered unreliable.”
