The Italian football world is in turmoil after the Ducali's crisis continued today with the arrest of President Giampietro Manenti for money laundering and embezzlement.

On from captain Alessandro Lucarelli calling the situation a 'disgusting farce', Crespo was barely able to respond to his interviewers.

“Look, we no longer know what to say,” said Crespo, in an interview with Calcionews24.com. “Unfortunately something terribly serious happened yet again.

“I don't want to discuss the details, we'll go over them in the future.

“I can't pass judgment on the legal issues but I can say that we're going ahead in spite of the hardship.

“My lads are driven and want to end their season on a high note. I have a stupendous group.

“Please don't ask me to say anymore. This is an excessively difficult moment.”

Parma team manager Sandro Melli echoed Crespo's statements when he was asked whether the team still had a sense of direction.

“We never did,” he said to Tuttomercatoweb. “We're sailing blindly, we don't know what to expect or what to do right now.

“Tomorrow [captain Alessandro] Lucarelli will appear in the tribunal. We'll see who joins him.”

At the same time, technical director Antonello Preiti, also interviewed by Tuttomercatoweb, put a slightly different focus on the problem.

“Regardless of this arrest, what matters is the date of March 19,” when the team has a bankruptcy hearing.

“The season could come to an end here, it's true, but we're hoping that's not the case.”
