Inter Coach Roberto Mancini believes qualifying for European football next season is out of the Nerazzurri’s hands and they must rely on others slipping up.
Mancio takes his side to the Stadio Friuli on Tuesday evening to face an Udinese side who defeated Milan 2-1 on Saturday.
Speaking in his pre-match Press conference, the Coach reflected on Inter’s 2-1 win against Roma and their aspirations for the remainder of the season.
“Getting into Europe doesn’t depend on us,” he said.
“We need to win as many games as possible and hope for a slip up from the teams in front of us.
“At first I was thinking about getting into the top three, even if we knew that it would be hard. When you’re at Inter you always need to target the greatest objectives.
“Winning in Udine shouldn’t be taken for granted and we will need to play a great match. The team we saw against Milan is clearly on the up and Stramaccioni knows Inter very well.”
The Nerazzurri beat Roma at San Siro on Saturday evening to take the club above rivals Milan in the table and plunge the Gialloblu further into crisis.
“Roma are a great team and it was fantastic match because they came to Milan to win without sitting back.
“We took risks because a win was the only result that we needed. Hernanes and Kovacic gave balance to the midfield, and Shaqiri and Podolski gave us a fresh potency at a difficult part of the game.
“You know you’ve found balance when the team is winning even when you rotate players.
“We are improving, even in the worst performances there’s something good. There are some limits and some errors, which we will see also in the next few games, but we must continue to work on it.”
