Stoke City reportedly viewed Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang, already a target for West Ham.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Stoke Chief Executive Tony Scholes was in the stands at Marassi for last night’s 1-1 draw against Verona.
He was there to keep a close eye on Obiang ahead of a summer bid.
This is not the first time the Spaniard has been linked with the Premier League, as West Ham United were also interested.
The 23-year-old was born in Spain and grew up in the Atletico Madrid youth academy before moving to Sampdoria in 2008.
