Iago Falque: 'I score for Europe'

Iago Falque says his scoring record with Genoa must serve to propel them into European qualification, whilst praising the team's work ethic.

The Spaniard has 10 goals to his name this season, more than a fifth of his side's total 49 and more than anybody else wearing his colours.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the 25-year-old stressed the squad’s performance over his own.

“The work we've done over the year allows us to give more on the pitch than the other teams,” he said.

“When attacking we have to score a lot to keep nurturing the European dream.

“My 10 goals? I knew I'd do well. Goals are the result of good performances. I'm very happy about having scored 10 goals, but I've also been very lucky.

“But what matters is Genoa's position in the standings. We're happy and we have to keep going like this to make it into Europe.”

Genoa are currently in sixth place, just one point shy of city rivals Sampdoria.
