Striker Robinho has rescinded his Milan contract, and is now free to join another club, almost certainly Santos.

The Brazilian is on loan to Santos, with the deal set to expire at the end of the Italian season, and the Rossoneri paying 40 per cent of his wages.

Modesto Junior Roma, President of the Brazilian side has been in Milan this week to try and finalise a permanent deal, and Globoesporte reveals that the 31-year-old’s contract has been cancelled.

"He will be free from July 1," Marisa Alija later explained to ESPN.

"He has already signed the documents to rescind his contract. Now we'll think calmly about his future, he already has some offers."

It had been speculated that the Diavolo would use the situation to negotiate for Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa, but it is not clear whether an option on the 18-year-old is part of the deal.

Robinho made 144 appearances for Milan in all competitions, scoring 32 goals.
