Boca were thrown out of the Copa Libertadores last week after fans aimed pepper spray at River Plate players, sending several of them to hospital.

Osvaldo responded by calling Conmebol officials “Mafiosi” and “fat cats behind their desks.”

He deleted the comments on Twitter, but they were spotted by papers and the disciplinary commission confirmed it will “evaluate what Osvaldo said.”

Italy Coach Antonio Conte had reportedly been due to call Osvaldo up for Azzurri games against Croatia and Portugal in June.

This latest unsavoury incident in his career could scupper the international recall.
