Sarri advanced Napoli talks

There are growing reports that Maurizio Sarri is in advanced talks with Napoli, beating Luciano Spalletti and Cesare Prandelli.

The first choice to replace Rafa Benitez was Unai Emery, but he definitively ruled himself out by signing a contract extension with Sevilla on Friday.

Spalletti and Prandelli were considered options, but reports emerging from Naples suggest Sarri is on the verge of agreeing terms.

The tactician resigned from Empoli this week, citing the need for new challenges, and Napoli would certainly provide those.

It’s claimed Sarri was spotted at the Hotel Vesuvio in Naples on Friday night, where President Aurelio De Laurentiis often holds business meetings.

If Sarri did come to Napoli, there’s a very strong chance he’d be reunited with a couple of key Empoli figures.

Midfielder Mirko Valdifiori has already been heavily linked with the Partenopei, while goalkeeper Luigi Sepe is on loan from Napoli.
