Police have made 17 arrests in connection with a match-fixing investigation, with the Savona-Teramo match under suspicion.

Teramo won promotion from the Lega Pro B this term, sealing the deal with a 2-0 victory away at Savona.

However, ANSA reports that investigators in Catanzaro suspect the leadership of the Biancorossi of paying €30,000 to fix the outcome of the match in their favour.

Club President Luciano Campitelli insisted there was nothing in the allegations, and still expects to be in Serie B next season.

“I’m more than comfortable,” Campitelli said, according to the news agency.

“I feel calm, the truth will out. I’m continuing to prepare the team for [Serie] B, that’s all that I’m interested in at the moment.”

There have been arrests of 17 people in connection with match-fixing, as well as investigations being opened into five new suspects.

Campitelli is reported to be under investigation, with sporting director Marcello Di Giuseppe and Savona director Marco Barghigiani having their houses searched.
