The Azzurrini could be one of the contenders in the Czech Republic, where they will face Sweden, England and Portugal.

“For the Federation, one of the biggest objectives is the European Under-21 Championship,” said FIGC President Tavecchio.

“That is even more important this time, as qualification for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro is also at stake.

The other teams taking part are the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany and Serbia.

Italy’s campaign begins on June 18 against Sweden, kicking off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

The Azzurrini play Portugal on June 21 and conclude the group with England on June 24.
