Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that Olympiacos attempted to convince the former Inter boss to join them, but the Coach was wary of the current economic situation in Greece.

Stramaccioni is also said to have turned down the chance to take over the Italy Under-21 side, telling the federation he was grateful for the offer, but seeking a club post.

The Azzurrini were eliminated from the Under-21 European Championships this week, with many blaming Coach Gigi Di Biagio.
