Roma Coach Rudi Garcia “hates losing and the players need to do better” after defeat in their first friendly of the season.

The Giallorossi were beaten 2-1 by Hungarian second division side Gyrmot Gyor and jeered by their own supporters.

“The result doesn’t matter in a friendly, but I hate losing,” Garcia told Roma TV.

“The players worked hard and are tired, but they need to do better. The youngsters gave their all and scored in the second half. The tour in Australia is coming up and I’ll pick some of them to come along.

“The internationals were given some rest and obviously the two groups had different fitness levels, but by the time we get to the friendlies against Manchester City and Real Madrid, they’ll be more ready.”

Garcia tested out the 4-2-3-1 system and “it is a possibility in future. This week we had plenty of strikers and fewer midfielders available.”
