Russian sources suggest that Fabio Capello could resign from coaching the Russian national team in the imminent future.
The 69-year-old joined the hosts of the 2018 World Cup in July 2012, signing a contract which would see him earn €7m a year plus bonuses.
But his disappointing performances in the 2014 World Cup and the Euro 2016 qualifiers so far have led many to question his assignment.
Russian media are now running the line that Capello is due to hand in his resignation in the very near future, with his position bound to be taken up by Leonid Slutsky.
The story was first mentioned on the Twitter account of Sportinside and has been corroborated by the major outlets since then.
Russia are currently third in the Euro qualifiers' Group G with 8 points, behind Austria and Sweden.
