Daniel Osvaldo is heading back to Europe, as Real Betis “are interested and he would love a return to Spain,” said his agent.

The 29-year-old Italy international is a free agent after Southampton terminated his contract with two years remaining and Boca Juniors opted not to make his loan permanent.

Now his agent insists negotiations are on-going with Liga side Real Betis.

“I called director Eduardo Macia and he confirmed there is interest, while the player likes the Coach,” agent Dario Decoud told Spanish newspaper AS.

“There was no concrete offer, but they are interested and Daniel would love a return to Spain, having already triumphed there.”

Osvaldo impressed at Espanyol, but his career path has been littered with problems due to his behaviour on and off the field.

The representative also denied rumours he passed a medical with Mexican club Cruz Azul only to then turn them down.

“That is false. There was an offer, but we were not satisfied with it. There are other clubs interested, of course.”
