Genoa President Enrico Preziosi “complained to the Lega Serie A” for scheduling the derby with Sampdoria midweek.

The fixture list was drawn up this evening and the Derby della Lanterna will be on January 6.

“We complained to the Lega Serie A about the derby, as the rules beforehand said a derby could not be played outside of the weekend,” Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.

The fixture list was drawn up this evening and the Derby della Lanterna will be on January 6.

“We complained to the Lega Serie A about the derby, as the rules beforehand said a derby could not be played outside of the weekend,” Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.

“That date is considered a bank holiday, so was not included in the midweek rounds.”

Preziosi nonetheless made up with Sampdoria chief Massimo Ferrero, shaking hands and holding the interview together.

“Enough with the controversy, as Ferrero and I have brought a lot of new developments into the Italian football world.”
