Miranda: ‘Champions League target’

New Inter defender Miranda says at his presentation that the Nerazzurri are targeting a Champions League spot this season.

The Brazil international, who arrived this summer from Atletico Madrid, also talked about the new-look Inter defence that also includes new boys Jeison Murillo and Martin Montoya.

"It wasn’t a difficult choice to come here, because Inter is a great club. It represents a new challenge for me,” Miranda said at the Press conference for his unveiling.

"I was signed in order to improve the defence. A team is made by the attack, the midfield and the defence: I want to give my contribution.

“Our defence is new and we still have to get to know each other. We must try to be more compact, but the most important thing is that there’s great communication between us.

"Our goal is to win and have a squad with a winning mentality. The Champions League is the first objective, then we'll see.

"The choice of the number 25 shirt was random, I had played with the 23 and 25 was the first available.

"It’s difficult to express oneself at the moment but all the players are great footballers and great athletes.

"I’ve found a great team, with a great desire to win. There is optimism and morale is very high.

"The players are different, at Inter it’s different. Here there is still a great defence, but much will depend on us and the work we do together.

"We are working and we are training. To concede goals in pre-season can happen, it’s not a problem. We are working to solve just that.”
