Genoa President Enrico Preziosi warned Inter and Napoli that “from tomorrow there will be no more Diego Perotti talks.”

The club had agreed a transfer to Watford FC, but he turned down the move.

“It’s not an ultimatum so much as calculating the timing and requirements around Perotti,” Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are trying to keep hold of him with a contract renewal that is closer to his needs, even if it is beyond our usual capabilities.

“We are trying to keep hold of him with a contract renewal that is closer to his needs, even if it is beyond our usual capabilities.

“We’re making a real effort here just for him, because we care for the player and want to keep him in the squad.

“This is why from tomorrow there will be no more negotiations for Perotti.”

The feeling seems to be mutual, as at a fan event this summer Perotti burst into tears when supporters sang 'stay with us.'
