Andrea Bertolacci compares Sinisa Mihajlovic to Azzurri Coach Antonio Conte and is 'not surprised' that he's already a starter.
The 24-year-old has been given a remarkable amount of responsibility considering his recent arrival, and he paid back the trust in him by scoring against Inter in the Trofeo Tim.
“I'm not surprised, in fact this is what I expected,” he said of his role as a starter, in an interview with Tuttosport.
“Mihajlovic is a very demanding Coach, he takes care of every detail.
“Above all else, he's capable of impressing a great drive into everyone thanks to his personality.
“He made us face every friendly game like it was a final. He gave us responsibility and I'm certain he'll be able to find the right words for every game we go out and play.
“He reminds me of Conte for his charisma and his intensity at work.”
Bertolacci was then questioned about his tactical role.
“With Genoa I played the whole season as a right-leaning central midfielder, and in that role my performances improved.
“Coach Gian Piero Gasperini? He changed my career. Until two years ago I lulled myself in my qualities, I thought I was already good enough even though I lacked continuity.
“Gasperini didn't just change my role, he allowed me to take the great leap forwards in terms of mentality.
“He incentivised me and turned me into a real footballer.”
