Fiorentina are awaiting confirmation on whether Mario Suarez can face Milan after an Atletico Madrid red card.

“We have a problem with Mario Suarez, as we don’t know whether he can play or not. The Federation hasn’t given us a response,” complained Coach Paulo Sousa in today’s Press conference.
The issue is that Suarez received a red card last season while playing in the Copa del Rey for Atletico Madrid.
According to the FIGC, this means he has to sit out a ban in his first competitive match for Fiorentina.
However, the FIFA regulations suggest the suspension is only for cup tournaments and would therefore be valid for the Coppa Italia.
In order to avoid potential punishment and further sanctions, Fiorentina could err on the side of caution and not play Mario Suarez against Milan this weekend.
